After a great ‘tour and football’ reunion at the club the night before both stalwarts Bull and Wales were not in prime condition to lead their respective teams into the third game of the season against Pool!
Winning the toss Pool were asked to bat, we started the game whilst a hail shower decided to remind us that yes we are in May?
Boyley’s third ball was edged to the Capt only to be given not out as it was deemed a bump ball – needless to say nothing more was said from the Capt......
‘Elvis’ Hussain toiled up the hill still thinking he was 20 keeping it tight however it was Boyley who struck first with 3 wickets in two over’s which ripped out Pools top order. Elvis then joined the party with a couple of wickets.
Jas and Tabbi then took over, Tabbi, new in to a job in the ‘defence’ sector in Preston (let’s hope he is not designing our next generation of missile systems) was trying his best to pitch the ball on the artificial wicket thinking he could spin it back by about 10 feet but failing miserably, then produced a stunning ‘half tracker’ which Cooper hooked to deep square leg where MOM Boyle produced a brilliant diving catch! Jas mopped up the tail with 2-2.
So Pool ended up 83 all out with extras top scoring with 19, something we shall need to work on!
After a hearty tea provided by Eileen and Kath, Elvis went out with Faddi ( after he had consumed his body building concoction of rubbish – obviously not working). Pools, Andy Williams (no not the singer) put us under some early pressure with some accurate out swing bowling. But it was Faddi who went first for a memorable 5. Joined at the crease was VC Stevens, nursing a ‘Stella attack’ from the night before and also playing on his 4th Anniversary thinking what he may get up to later, he then set about the Pool attack with a quick fire 18 before playing the worst shot of the day back to bowler Harland!
Lanky then bored us with 8 before playing all around a straight one, Jas and Amir then showed how easy it was finishing the game quickly with 17 and 4 not out. Elvis top scored with 21 but perished earlier to a brilliant caught and bowled by Williams.
Job done just in time to watch FA Cup Final, never mind Faddi?
That’s all folk’s!
