There were three occasions in the wonderful Waddilove Cup Final at North Leeds when we thought that a packed Homestead, bathed in sunshine ,our team would bring off a famous win

Despite having Burley 6-2 and scoring 41 there were times when it looked like Farhan Khan would win the game on his own . Burley pulled the game around from 6-2 and 105-4 thanks to Jason Wright’s 87 & Redmond Bolton’s 72 to score 260-5.

Then, after a tough start at 84-2 with Farhan on 41, NLCC looked well placed and looking good during the partnership between the Chana brothers , Anil & Taran , (with 33 & 79 respectively) However it was not to be and North Leeds ended up 19 runs short on 241-9 in a 45 over a side game.

It was said after the game ‘ that North Leeds certainly know how to host an event ‘ The club , ground and facilities looked spectacular ,casual passers by said they ‘had never seen the place like it’ and hopefully we showed to all what a great club we are.

The club would like to thank all those that helped put on the day. There were many from Kate Carson and all who helped with the catering ,all those people who helped bake cakes , collect glasses and supported the bar teams .The club also thanks Tony Fletcher and Tony Chappell and all those that supported Nick make the ground look spectacular and provided a wicket which saw 500 runs scored in 90 overs for 14 wickets and sadly saw Burley victorious
