Hopefully when you all start coming down to the club & using the facilities you will notice the efforts we have put in over the winter months.
My appeal for funds to raise money for the covers has again been very well received by members past & present & hopefully by the start of the season I will be able to announce that we will have raised it all.
We have been awarded a few grants over the winter; the big one was The Well Being Fund which enabled us to complete the car park fencing, which looks amazing!
This season we are hoping it is the calm before the storm as we attack large funding to carry out our ambitious plans to refurbish the showers, dressing rooms & balcony extension.
Whilst this is bubbling away under the surface we will be relying on our great membership to carry on supporting our events, offering help & supporting their cricketers whilst they battle for honours on the field.
Both senior Saturday sides have a big task on gaining promotion this year; however with Rob Winter & Nicky Bull captains this season the feeling in the camp is that it can be done. Rob has recruited well in the close season; we have a young opening bat called Tom Boxell from Richmond in Australia, & a promising young all-rounder from Shadwell in Jack Burke.
With the strong junior element supporting all three sides this season we look forward to watching some entertaining cricket.
The recent quiz night we held at the club went very well, however our blue chip event of 2012 is the Summer Ball held at the Queens Hotel, this is replacing our Sportsman’s Dinner & an opportunity for our wives & girlfriends to enjoy a good night out as well . This black tie event will need all our support so your contact for this very exciting evening is Sarah Palfreeman. Hope you all have a great year at The Homestead & look forward to sharing a beer with you during the summer.
