The club abounds with centurions as the season reaches its half way stage

On a very hot day at the Homestead skipper Andy Carson won the toss and elected to bat. The Carson brother’s started with a steady opening partnership of 47 from 15 overs before Callum was bowled for 11. From here Taran Chana came to the crease and with Andy managed to put on a partnership of 137 in 23 overs. Skipper Andy passed 50 with 2 sixes off Peter Hotchkiss and continued to move through the gears as Chana provided excellent support. Skipper Andy completed his first hundred at the Homestead with a flick to fine leg for four. Although he fell next over with the score 184-2 with still 11 overs to go. From here Chana increased his scoring rate passing 50 and accelerating rapidly to his first 1st XI hundred. Taz brought his hundred up with a clip through midwicket, completing it off 86 balls, his second fifty most likely off around 20 balls. Though he was dismissed next ball leaving the score 258-4. Amir Farooq finished the innings off with 40* from 26 as Leeds finished 303-7 from their 50.

Batting second, Beckwithshaw gave the game a very good go thanks to some good hitting from Sedgley and Moore but regular wickets fell as three for Khan, Karim and Copley helped Leeds to a 76 run win, collecting the full 20 points. Additionally this is the first time two 1st XI batsmen have scored hundreds in the same innings since 1953!

The 1st XI now sit 4th with 136 points at the halfway stage of the season.

Skipper Andy and Taz's feat has only been done once before in the history of the club in a first team game Roy Barker ( 101) and Gordon Wales (100*) against Calverley in 1953 and
they put on 173 in 85 minutes for the first wicket

The 2nd XI also piled on the runs at Beckwithshaw, with Numan Khan compiling a quite brilliant 159 with great support from Saj who passed 50, putting on 144 for the second wicket with Numan and Aqib who made an excellent 78*. This meant that North Leeds ended up on 352-4, a league record score in 45 overs.

Steve Wales was then the main destroyer in the second half picking up 5-16 as Beckwithshaw were bowled out for 91 giving the 2nd XI a massive victory margin of 261 runs.

It is believed that North Leeds CC's 352-4 is the highest score in a 2nd XI AWSCL 45 over game .

At halfway the 2nd XI sit 11 points clear at the top of the table with 182 points.
