Sadly Andy leaves us during the winter to start a new job in London

When Andy joined us three seasons ago Rob Winter was looking for the first team to evolve and become more youthful and have a metaphorical passing of the baton from the era of Winter and Wales to a new era relying on the players who have come through our junior teams .This all had to take place whilst the first team retained its status in Division one of the Aire and Wharfe Senior cricket league.

The Club Chairman Steve Wales states :
As Chairman it is important to get good people in key roles to make the club successful, the figurehead of any club in terms of the cricket is the 1st team captain and we have been truly fortunate to have had a captain like Andy Carson.

Andy bought passion and enthusiasim to the role after his mentor Rob Winter stood down, but one of the most impressive traits was that he got what the club was all about, totally immersing himself in everything from practising, match day preparations, training the juniors and generally involving himself in everything he could along with being a great ambassador for North Leeds Cricket Club.

This year we have seen massive steps with the 1st team and this is down to Andy's single minded preparation and leadership skills, the team wants to play for him and most importantly they want to play for the club and Andy has played a huge part in this creating a this great family/club ethos, whilst still playing and speaking to other clubs around the league they all have huge respect for his side and more impressively for him as a person and a skipper.

He in my eyes was potentially one/two seasons away from winning something for the 1st team after many false dawns and near misses, we/I will be very sad to see him go, we will miss him and I hope his talented side can carry on their improvement over the coming years.

Thank you Andy for your contribution and good luck in all you do in the future, remember if you don’t like London you can always come home........to the Homestead.
